So on this long weekend I have done a terrible job of updating. In part that is due to my low camera battery access (which will be fixed tomorrow when I return to my normal flat (oh I am so European). But in the meantime the next few post will be a weekend in review!:
So Saturday, most things seemed to be open again so I decided to go to see some stores and some sites. Mostly i meant to just go to Trinity College so that I could see the Library and the Book of Kells but on the way… I had to go by a street of all shops.
Interesting obervations – on very few of the garments I tried on could I find where they were made. This is generally something that is needed to be on the labels at least in my experience so I wonder if the laws are different here? That being said I have to unfortunaly admit that I still made a few purchases (one was a dress for Easter since I decided I would like to see what a holiday mass was like in Ireland but didn’t have anything appropriate with me to wear.)
Book of Kells – The exhibit was very well put together especially since there isn’t so much to display. (they only have like maybe 6 or 7 books) There were large blown up panels with images from the books along with history, the raw materials, and videos on how they were made. I was really excited that I got to see the book of Durrow. Plus it was nice to see some smaller books of hours. When you only ever see them projected on a screen during a lecture you think they are all the same size but some of them are soo small and to think that the details hold up that well even projected is insane! the Library was beautiful as well but I was there for the illuminated manuscripts.
