Well here I am finally!! Still a little jet-lagged and waterlogged (so far I find that it’s true what they say about the rain) but here! I don’t start at Edun till Monday so I had today (and the bit of yesterday I was awake for) to explore a little. In the part of town I’m staying in there is a small river with a park around it. Best part of it… the river is built up of locks! I immediately marked myself as a tourist and took a zillion pictures (photo’s to come if any of you are as nerdy as I am…). On the way back I stopped of to get some groceries and got some great Irish Cheddar, had a quick snack of it and immediately passed out. Which brings me to today! I spent most of the day figuring out how to get to Edun. A task that should have only taken and hour but it is now almost six and I just got back. Direction has never been my strong suit. Plus I had to stop and look at… well everything. Favorite thing on that walk, a street performer playing the harp. I just loved it. It seems as though I shouldn’t have been so surprised but it was so big and beautiful and in the middle of a crowded street, it was an interesting juxtaposition. (That was for you Carl!)
As for my mission here… I told my house-mates what I was going to be working on and one of them said “oh that’s why you must have so many clothes” (nope I’m just a stereotypical American with a lot of things) and the other said “oh that sounds like expensive clothes” (since they are fairly made and organic). I think both are fair assumptions to make at first but I hope that they will look more into the company. Either way they seem like nice girls and I’m glad to be staying with them.
